Game Notes

Week 3 brings us through autumn in GlenRio, a season so much like the others that it’s hard to tell the difference except for the chilly nights.

All businesses have been opened, some are more successful than others but that may be due to a lack of attention to skill building on my part.

From Karen - Week 3

May 9th, 2008

Dear Ann,

I no longer want to be the leader of this band of intrepid adventurers. They have run me ragged this week…

Naturally, most of the drama revolved around the Turner twins. Kari had recently opened her salon, Kari’s Kut Hut. Can I tell you, I hate cutesy misspelling, not to mention cheesy rhymes.

Anyway, I stopped over to get my hair done. I figured that with being pregnant and dealing with everyone’s bs, I deserved a little pampering. I won’t mention what happened, it still makes me angry but the secret Shari felt obligated to divulge is just too good not to gossip about…she’s been dating Max and Glen. Thank goodness we told Glen he would have to wait to move in to GlenRio, how uncomfortable would that have been when the fit hit the shan?!

Poor Jack was pressured into getting a make-over. I think he was expecting a cut and shave but he ended up like most of Kari’s other clients. I wish I had the heart to tell her to close it down before we live in Clown Town.

I had the baby just a few days after Briah had hers. Autumn is her name because she was born in autumn, original, I know. I did not know it at the time, but this was to be the last joyous moment of the week.

Kari worked her magic on yet another unsuspecting victim. I told her to lay off the make-up, at least on male clients, after what she did to Jack but the woman is creative in her destruction…just look what she did to this poor man’s head.

Continuing on the Turner theme, Patrick Albee now wants residency so he can move in with Kari Turner. Jack told him to wait, just like we’ve told everyone else, but I don’t know how much authority a man wearing make up actually possesses so I wouldn’t be surprised to stop over one day and find Patrick all moved in.

And imagine my shock when Shari arrived to tell us that she was pregnant. Normally I would be thrilled to have another member of our second generation on the way, but all I can wonder is “who’s the baby’s daddy?”

I did notice that she beat a hasty retreat and avoided all eye contact when Max stopped by to talk with Jack about constructing a new community lot.

I’ll be perfectly honest, Max creeps me out. He’s always watching people and making notes in his little book, saying “interesting” and “mm hmm” a lot. I feel like a lab rat around him, it’s weird.

Notice Jack grew a mustache? I think it’s his way of being manly after wearing make-up for a few days. Hee hee

We finally got Kari over after calling her for most of the day. Jack tried once again to explain exactly what a cosmetologist is supposed to do and I overheard the whole conversation so I know that it went in one ear and out the other.

I just know there is going to be another knock on our door coming soon.

Autumn grew into a happy and precocious toddler, she learns so quickly! I made sure to potty train her early to give myself more time to perfect the toys for our store.

She was begging to play while I was working at the bench so I gave her a Sir Bricks a Lot to test out my theory that it is a horrible toy and guess what? It is! Just look at my poor daughter’s face, like she’s wondering why Mommy gave her a rock to play with.

Speaking of the store, we started construction on The Toybench and I called to officially open it. I’m not sure why I called because we don’t even have the money to finish building the walls. I’ve sold back all the bricks I’ve made and still not enough.

Thank heavens this week is over, I can only hope it gets better from here and to ensure that it does, I’m locking our door and turning off the ringer.

Take care,
Karen
